Get the story behind the story

We’ve added a new feature on the blog – over on the right, you’ll see a link to the Bourbon at the Border dramaturgical research. Click on that link and you’ll see the information that Sarah, our dramaturg for the show, has put together. It’s the same packet that we’ll be handing out to actors and designers at the first read through next weekend – jam-packed with information about Pearl Cleage, Freedom Summer, the Civil Rights Movement, and Detroit circa 1995.

We’ll be referring to this information as we go through the rehearsal process, and it’ll help all of us as we work to create the world that Pearl Cleage has imagined in Bourbon at the Border.

Take a look and let us know what you think – it’s a great way to get a sense of the context underneath the story before you come out to see the show.
