You mentioned not getting a lot of comments on your blog. What about putting a link to the blog in the top menu bar of your site? If a visitor saw it on the homepage without having to scroll down so far, they might be more apt to read and comment.

We’re talking about making a few changes to the site soon, and I think making the blog more visible probably would help a lot.
